Dining Out With Your Dog Workshop

Location: Liberty Station’s “The Boat” outdoor dining area

Living in San Diego allows us to be out and about year round. Taking our dogs with us when we go to a market or café should be a relaxing experience for us and a fun adventure for your dog. This workshop will teach you techniques to keep your dog calm and well behaved when entering and hanging out in appropriate public settings.

Price: $60 per dog

What You Can Expect

Practical Training for Real Situations
Whether you’ve struggled with leash pulling outside a café, or your dog gets overly excited by people walking by, this workshop introduces trainers’ favorite techniques for calm entrance, polite settling, and maintaining good manners in public spaces where food, conversation, and movement are all happening around you. You’ll work on cues and behaviors that help your dog stay focused on you — even with tempting distractions nearby.

Comfortable, Supported Setting
Held outdoors at The Boat’s dining area in Liberty Station, the environment itself becomes part of the lesson: plenty of real‑world sights, sounds, and social stimuli help you practice in a setting that closely resembles the restaurants and cafes you’ll visit on your own. Expect opportunities to practice new techniques while other dogs, people, and outdoor dining activity buzz around you.

Trainer Guidance & Feedback
We tailor our advice to your dog’s pace and personality, offering adjustments, praise, and encouragement as you try new skills. Whether your dog needs help with focus, polite greeting manners, or patience while you settle in, you’ll leave with personalized takeaways to build on afterward.

Who This Is For
Suitable for dogs and owners of all experience levels who want to make out‑and‑about dining more pleasant and predictable. It’s especially helpful if your dog:

  • gets excited or anxious around waitstaff, eager patrons, and other dogs

  • struggles to stay settled at outdoor tables

  • pulls or jumps when first entering a dining area

  • could use confidence navigating bustling environments

Why It Matters

Eating out with your dog doesn’t have to be stressful. With a little training and practice in supportive company, you’ll head into that next dog‑friendly brunch, coffee patio, or outdoor market with confidence, and both you and your dog can enjoy each other more!
